EPN Comments on EPA’s Proposal to Reduce Air Pollution from Heavy-duty Vehicles and Engines

On May 16, 2022, EPN submitted comments on EPA’s proposed rulemaking to set new, more stringent standards to reduce pollution from heavy-duty vehicles and engines starting in model year (MY) 2027. The proposed standards would reduce emissions of smog- and soot-forming nitrogen oxides (NOx) from heavy-duty gasoline and diesel engines and set more stringent greenhouse gas (GHG) standards for certain commercial vehicle categories. EPN urged EPA to strengthen both the NOx and GHG requirements in the final rule in ways that would maintain EPA’s leadership in improving air quality and public health and addressing the global climate crisis.
