Stratospheric Ozone

Stratospheric ozone occurs naturally in the upper atmosphere, where it forms a protective layer that shields us from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. In October 2018, EPA proposed a revision to the controls on hydro-fluorocarbons (HFCs) and other refrigerants that are substitutes for ozone-depleting substances (ODS). EPN commented on the environmental threats, additional liabilities, and costs that the agency had not accounted for in its proposal.
