EPN Letter on Proposed Revisions to Regulations Implementing NEPA

On November 22, 2021, EPN sent a letter to the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) providing comments on the proposal to generally restore regulatory provisions for implementing the procedural provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) that were in effect for decades before being modified under the Trump administration. As noted in its October 2021 testimony, EPN supports CEQ’s proposed revisions, which will ensure federal NEPA assessments meet over five decades of well-established law and practice and provide for addressing climate change and environmental injustice. EPN also recommended that any revisions to NEPA made by CEQ in a second proposed rulemaking should go further to restore the purpose and goals of NEPA that were limited by the 2020 NEPA regulations.
