On May 30, 2023, EPN submitted comments on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Supplemental Effluent Limitations Guidelines and Standards for the Steam Electric Power Generating Point Source Category. EPN is fully supportive of EPA’s proposed Best Available Technology Economically Achievable (BAT) for flue gas desulfurization wastewater and bottom ash transport water. However, we recommended a more stringent BAT for combustion residue leachate and legacy wastewater and an earlier compliance date for direct dischargers.
