EPN Comments on EPA’s Proposed PFAS National Primary Drinking Water Regulation

On May 30, 2023, EPN submitted comments on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Proposed PFAS National Primary Drinking Water Regulation. We commend EPA for making a preliminary determination to regulate four specific types of PFAS and proposing health-protective maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for PFOA and PFOS. These measures present a meaningful opportunity for health-risk reductions for persons served by public water systems. We also provide comments on the preliminary determination, the maximum contaminant level goals (MCLGs) and MCLs for PFOA and PFOS, the Hazard Index MCLG and MCL for PFAS mixtures, monitoring requirements, public notification requirements, compliance requirements, and the benefit/cost analyses.
