On April 5, 2023, EPN submitted comments regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Environmental and Climate Justice (ECJ) Grant Program. While we commend EPA on the various innovative ideas regarding the ECJ Program, we recommend attempting to minimize the administrative burden on disadvantaged communities applying for funds with a less lengthy and cumbersome application process and an understanding that access to high-speed internet connections is not available to all communities. We also recommend highly sought-after types of technical assistance that we have found critical for grant recipients as well as different types of community liaisons that would be supportive within those various types of assistance.
