EPN Submits Comments on Revised Risk Determinations for PCE and NMP

On August 1, 2022, EPN submitted comments on the draft revised risk determinations for the risk evaluations of Perchloroethylene (PCE) and n-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP). EPA is revising specific aspects of the first ten chemical risk evaluations conducted under the reformed Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in order to ensure that the risk evaluations better align with TSCA’s objective of protecting health and the environment.

The purpose of risk evaluations is to determine whether chemical substances such as PCE and NMP present unreasonable risks to health or the environment under the conditions of use. We support the agency’s proposed revised risk determinations for these chemicals, which find that the chemicals as a whole present unreasonable risks for injury under their conditions of use and do not assume the use of personal protective equipment.
