EPN’s Censored Science Proposal Executive Summary

On April 24, 2018, Trump’s EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt proposed to restrict the use of scientific studies in setting rules and agency policies, when the underlying data and models used to analyze data supporting the studies cannot be publicly released. The proposal is an attack on accepted scientific approaches and is a huge step backward from the progress made on protecting people’s health. As a result, EPN has produced an Executive Summary of Pruitt’s proposed regulation, highlighting the fact that it makes it impossible for the EPA to take into account the full spectrum of well-conducted and peer-reviewed scientific studies of the health effects of pollution, which is inconsistent with scientific practice and sound public policy.
