EPN Requests a Comment Extension for Policy Assessment of Ozone Air Quality Standard

On November 7, 2019, EPN sent a letter to EPA Administrator Wheeler requesting an extension of the public comment period for the first draft of the Policy Assessment (PA) for the Review of the Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). In past NAAQS reviews, the PA, which contains important exposure and risk analyses, was provided to the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) and for public review before a draft PA was released. EPN finds that the release of the draft PA for ozone is improper, inconsistent with all past NAAQS reviews and a logical sequence of events, and goes against congressional intent. In addition, the 45 days provided to comment on the PA is insufficient for informed comment. EPN requested an additional 45 days, which would increase the comment period to 90 days.
