On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, EPN member Dr. Betsy Southerland presented comments during a roundtable discussion with the Democrats of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. The Supreme Court decision in Sackett v. EPA will make it easier for industries to pollute our waters and endanger human health. Environmental justice concerns intensified after this decision, as Indigenous communities, communities of color, and those most vulnerable to pollution will feel the greatest impact. EPN has created a checklist of actions that states and tribes would need to take to restore protections to waters and wetlands no longer covered by the Clean Water Act (CWA) following the Sackett decision.
