Clean Water Act 101 by EPA Alumnus Mike Shapiro

EPN volunteer Mike Shapiro, former Deputy Assistant Administrator, Office of Water, spent 37 years at EPA and has expertise in water quality and drinking water policy, climate change adaptation, regulatory analysis, and environmental program management. In this video, he provides an overview of the Clean Water Act (CWA), including its goals, administration, scope, and approaches. While at EPA, Mike championed development of the Urban Waters Program, which promoted community engagement in the restoration and use of urban waterways and featured an innovative partnership among components of 14 federal agencies. This program was recognized with a Service to America Medal by the Partnership for Public Service. In retirement Mike continues his commitment to clean water and public health through working on national policy and on local community projects as a volunteer for EPN.
