On May 29, 2021, EPN commented on EPA’s request for nominations to the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC). CASAC members are appointed by the EPA Administrator and provide independent expert information and recommendations on the scientific and technical aspects of air quality criteria and National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). EPN suggested criteria EPA should consider in the selection of the seven-member committee, as well as the critical need to reinstate the use of pollutant-specific expert panels to advise the CASAC in all NAAQS reviews.
