EPN Member Testifies on Final Draft Risk Evaluation for the Chemical Methylene Chloride

On September 16, 2020, EPN member Bob Sussman presented testimony on the final draft risk evaluation of Methylene Chloride (MC) on behalf of EPN and Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families at an EPA webinar. MC is primarily used as an industrial solvent and also as a potent paint stripper and paint thinner that has been linked to cancer, cognitive impairment, and asphyxiation, among other effects. Both organizations have previously expressed to EPA their deep concern about the health effects of methylene chloride and the importance of protecting workers and consumers from unsafe exposure. Sussman called for EPA to ban all consumer uses of methylene chloride.
