EPN Calls for Retraction of DOE’s Biased Climate Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Environmental Protection Network (EPN) has submitted formal comments strongly condemning the Department of Energy’s (DOE) flawed report, “A Critical Review of Impacts of Greenhouse Gas Emissions on the U.S. Climate.” This report is being used as the basis for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to repeal the Endangerment Finding, which requires regulation of greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. EPN strongly urges the report to be retracted.
“The DOE report fails on many fronts. First and foremost, it’s simply shoddy science, and the more closely you read it, the worse it gets. It ignores the findings of major climate assessments, cherry picks data to support preconceived conclusions, relies on studies that have been shown to be wrong, and makes statements that are entirely unscientific,” said Andy Miller, former Senior Science Advisor for the Integrated Climate Sciences Division in EPA’s Office of Research and Development. “The report intentionally misrepresents what we know about climate change to imply that because we don’t know everything exactly, we don’t know enough to take action to address it. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
Andy Miller is available to respond to media inquiries.
