L4GG Office Hours for Federal Grantees (and Terminated Grantees)
– If you’re a federal grantee (or were a federal grantee), register here for L4GG’s Updates on Ongoing Federal Grant Termination, Litigation, and Compliance on Wednesday, August 26, from 12:30-1pm eastern. This bimonthly series (on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month) is an opportunity for federal grantees to talk to lawyers about ongoing litigation, the Court of Federal Claims, and ask grant and litigation-related questions.
Data Centers
Data Center Resource Directory Dashboard
– Data centers are developing all over the country, and multiple studies, guides, ordinances, and trackers are coming out simultaneously. To help us in our own work, EPN created this Data Center Resource Directory Dashboard to simplify searching for data center resources. Resources range from introductory data center information to deep reports on diesel generators, for example. Watch a tutorial on how to use the Dashboard here and suggest resources to add to the Dashboard here. EPN staff will review suggested resources to add on a weekly basis.

EPN and L4GG Resources to Help You Find Funding and Financing
– Check out EPN’s latest Funding Bulletin, a resource guide to funding opportunities—including philanthropic, state, and local funding and use EPN’s Technical Assistance Request Form to request 1:1 funding discovery support or other technical assistance.
– You can also access L4GG’s Sprint Hub for direct legal support for all types of green finance needs for community projects. L4GG will work with you to identify potential investors or mission-driven lenders, including Green Banks and CDFIs, to close any funding gap. Big Green Tent
Big Green Tent (BGT) brings together the people, expertise, and resources needed for promising environmental work to be seen, understood, and supported. BGT’s critical first step is the expert vetting of environmental organizations: BGT screens and vets small environmental nonprofits, bringing together experienced practitioners to ask the hard questions, share what they know, and provide practical feedback. Organizations that advance are listed on BGT’s public giving platform so small and large donors alike can give with confidence. BGT reviews organizations that are registered as, or fiscally sponsored by, a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity, with annual revenue between $500,000 and $5 million. The platform launches September 1 with its first ten expert-vetted organizations. Green and Healthy Homes Initiative Technical Assistance Opportunity
The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is seeking qualified organizations and experts to provide technical assistance to more than 200 community-led projects funded through EPA’s Region 3 Thriving Communities Grant Program. Expertise is sought in areas including federal grant compliance, environmental regulations, organizational capacity, community engagement, and environmental project planning and implementation. Selected providers may receive up to $25,000 for technical assistance provided through April 2027. Nominate an Emerging Nonprofit Leader
The Claneil Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Fund (ELF) is seeking nominations for its 2027 cohort. ELF supports emerging, high-potential nonprofits in the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions, typically organizations that are 3–5 years old, have budgets under $1 million, and are working at the cutting edge of education, hunger and nutrition/food systems, health and human services, or the environment. You may nominate as many organizations as you would like. Please keep nominations confidential; self-nominations are not accepted. Submit a nomination by September 10.
NDN Collective’s Community Action Fund
NDN Collective’s Community Action Fund supports Indigenous-led frontline, grassroots, and community-based efforts to defend Indigenous rights and protect land, air, water, and natural resources. Funding can support non-violent direct action and movement-building. Eligible applicants include Indigenous-led nonprofits, U.S.-based Tribes, tribal programs or nonprofit entities, and Alaska Native Villages or their nonprofit entities. On Thursday, September 10, at 3pm eastern, join Climate Ready for a communications training session focused on developing clear, effective messages for advocacy and public engagement. Participants will learn practical approaches for creating strong talking points, communicating with confidence, and ensuring their messages resonate with key audiences during both routine outreach and moments of heightened public attention. Climate Ready Leadership Workshop & Office Hours: Decision-Making in the Gray Zone
Join Climate Ready for a two-part learning opportunity designed to help leaders navigate “gray zone” decisions—situations where information is incomplete, circumstances are evolving, and there may be no clear right answer. The Decision-Making in the Gray Zone workshop on Tuesday, September 15, from 2:30-4pm eastern will explore practical frameworks for balancing mission, risk, and opportunity. Then, on Thursday, September 17, from 1-2pm eastern, join Office Hours: Decision-Making in the Gray Zone, an interactive coaching session focused on applying the workshop concepts to real organizational challenges. Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services Workshops
Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services is a nonprofit environmental law organization that expands access to environmental justice by providing legal services regardless of income. The organization offers legal counsel, litigation support, nonprofit consulting, and community planning and outreach to individuals, community groups, and nonprofits navigating environmental law and policy. Fair Shake also hosts a monthly legal advocacy workshop series (held every third week of the month) focused on building practical law and public policy skills.
On Thursday, September 17, from 12-1:30pm eastern, they will be talking about what to expect after a disaster. Upcoming In-Person Brownfields RLF Workshops
Join Grow America and ICMA for one of two remaining no-cost, in-person workshops for EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grantees. The New Orleans, Louisiana workshop will be held October 6-7, and the Clark County, Nevada workshop will be held December 8-9. Both workshops offer hands-on learning, practical exercises, and opportunities to connect and learn from other RLF teams. Register for the New Orleans workshop and book lodging by September 7; travel scholarships are available for those who qualify, with applications due August 31. For the Clark County workshop, register here and book lodging by November 16; travel scholarship applications are due November 9.
Office Hours: Preparing a Competitive Brownfields RLF Grant Application
Join Grow America on Wednesday, September 23, or Wednesday, October 21, from 3-5pm eastern for open office hours focused on preparing a competitive EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grant application. Participants will have the opportunity to bring questions, discuss challenges, and explore strategies for successful Brownfields financing and redevelopment. The session will cover key considerations for applicants, including demonstrating community need, identifying potential borrowers and projects, building program capacity, and developing a strong application strategy for future EPA funding opportunities. Please note: This event may be rescheduled depending on the release of EPA’s FY 2027 Assessment, RLF, and Cleanup Grant Competition Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and related guidance. Democracy 2025 Federal Grants Hub
Democracy 2025 has launched a Federal Grants Hub to help grantees, subgrantees, advocates, and others navigate threats to federal funding and legal challenges to unlawful grants actions. The hub includes regularly updated tracking of federal funding threats, plain-language updates on litigation, practical tools for navigating the changing federal grants landscape, and resources on grant conditions and statutory authorities. Mothers of the Movement Storytelling Collection
The Environmental Justice Oral History Project has launched Mothers of the Movement, a new oral history collection honoring 27 women who have shaped and continue to shape the Environmental Justice Movement. The collection brings their stories to life through oral histories, curricular materials, a place-based StoryMap, a print magazine, and op-eds, capturing the women’s experiences and wisdom in their own voices. Many are well-known leaders, while others are “hidden figures” whose contributions deserve greater recognition. Explore and share the collection here.
