Environmental Protection Network Welcomes EPA Standards for Heavy-Duty Trucks & Buses
Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced final regulations for heavy-duty vehicles, which will significantly reduce pollution from the fastest-growing source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Margo Oge, Environmental Protection Network volunteer and former Director of EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality, released the following statement:
“Medium and heavy diesel trucks comprise less than 6% of vehicles on the road but spew more than half the smog and soot Americans breathe and 25% of greenhouse gas emissions. The Final EPA Medium and Heavy-duty standards are a big step in the right direction to fight climate change and help us breathe cleaner air.
Hopefully, truck manufacturers and fleets will support this final rule and continue investing in a healthy industry, healthy people, and a healthy planet.”
