EPN Presents Testimony on Proposed Revisions to Regulations Implementing the National Environmental Policy Act

On February 25, 2020, EPN presented testimony at a Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) public hearing on its proposal to update regulations for implementing the procedural provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). NEPA provides the foundation for national environmental policy; it requires that federal agencies take a hard look at potential impacts to air, water and other shared resources before a project—be it a shopping mall or a gas pipeline—is approved with public input. EPN strongly objects to CEQ’s proposed regulations, which will not reduce delays as the proposal suggests, and may in fact strip NEPA of its unique value to address some of our most pressing environmental challenges.
