On August 19, 2021, EPN commented on the EPA Science Advisory Board’s (SAB) request for comments on the List of Candidates to the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) Particulate Matter (PM) Review Panel. The review panel will provide advice to the CASAC on updates to the science and policy assessments supporting the agency’s reconsideration of the December 2020 decision to retain the PM National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). EPN recommended important factors EPA should consider in the selection of the CASAC PM Review Panel, and agreed that a timely update of the review of the PM standards by CASAC, supported by experts in multiple disciplines, is a high priority.
