EPN Testimony before the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology

EPN volunteer Dr. Stanley Stan Meiburg, former Acting Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, testified before the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology at the January 8, 2026, hearing “Chemistry Competitiveness: Fueling Innovation and Streamlining Processes to Ensure Safety and Security.” He highlighted the essential role of independent, science‑based review in EPA’s regulatory process, cautioning that efforts to speed chemical decision‑making should not undermine scientific integrity, public health protections, or public confidence in chemical safety decisions. Meiburg drew on his nearly four decades of experience to emphasize that credible, science‑grounded regulation is critical to protecting health and the environment while also supporting innovation.
