Naomi Lichtenstein
Community Outreach Associate
Naomi Lichtenstein (she/they) is a Community Outreach Associate with our capacity building technical assistance program. She concentrates on creating strong connections between communities in California with EPA alumni with decades of expertise and other allies to provide assistance for community identified projects. Naomi has primarily focused their career to center around environmental justice issues and the power of youth in research and enacting change.
Naomi graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and policy with a focus on politics and policy. She is passionate about creating a more streamlined network for local organizations and communities to bring their projects to fruition without the hindrance of finances or bureaucracy.
Their love for environmental work stems from a deep enjoyment of connecting with people and nature, changing how our society uses the environment for resources rather than establishing a symbiotic relationship with the earth as a whole. Prior to EPN, Naomi worked as an environmental educator in lower income communities working on local restoration and research projects. In addition, Naomi conducted research for the State Department on environmental defenders and helped create more accessible learning materials and resources at the White House for the National Parks.
Naomi currently lives in San Francisco, CA. Outside of work, they enjoy surfing, hiking, concerts and festivals, as well as being with her friends on a regular basis.
