Vanessa Simms is the National Grants Manager at the Environmental Protection Network. Her background is in environmental grants, particularly for those grants serving environmental justice communities. She has expertise in grants management and compliance and supporting capacity-constrained organizations to manage federal funds.
Formally, Vanessa served in the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights in the Grants Management Division and took part in the developing of new grant programs along with building out flagship programs. She served hundreds of communities and provided technical assistance and training to both internal and external stakeholders.
Vanessa attended George Washington University where she received a Master of Arts in Environmental Resource Policy. In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys hanging out with her little ones and enjoying a big bowl of ice cream..
