EPA Core Programs—Clean Water

The EPA ensures that Americans have safe drinking water, and that rivers, lakes, streams, and coastal waters are kept clean. This includes setting limits on contaminants in drinking water, restoring impaired waterways back to their original healthy state, supporting rural communities that lack drinking water and sanitation access, controlling ocean dumping, and setting restrictions on discharges. EPN has created an EPA Core Programs Clean Water fact sheet, as well as analyses on proposed FY2020 and FY2021 Cuts to Clean Water and FY2020 Cuts to Clean Drinking Water, to provide a detailed understanding of the EPA’s critical role in providing clean waterways and safe drinking water.
