Michael Callahan is a senior at Wake Forest University, pursuing a B.A. in Politics and International Affairs with a minor in Environmental Studies. He has previously worked with organizations such as the Coral Restoration Foundation to address ocean acidification, and in 2012 joined a team in Florida that replanted staghorn and elkhorn coral. As a college student, Michael promoted recycling efforts among Greek organizations and aided the environmental start-up UCapture in expanding across campus. In 2018, he interned at the office of Representative Jan Schakowsky, where he directly assisted constituents from a district of over 700,000, attended numerous Energy and Environment briefings, and submitted an official comment against H.Con.Res.119. Michael’s experience with environmental policy has created a passion that he plans to continue in graduate school and beyond, with a specific interest in sea-level rise and ocean acidification.
